What made you want to start Frog Nation?
There really was no thought behind FROGNATION. We didn’t planit or anything; just one day chilling with my friends, smoking and drawingpictures. We just started adding stuff to this one picture. My sister wasrolling up the next L to set off the cypher, I grabbed the L from her (since itwas pearled oh so beautiful) lol and put it in the frogs hand. She then drewit out and we just finished adding things to the photo. FROGNATION. There you have it.
How would you describe your fashion sense?
Naeema: My sense of fashion is really chill for the most part. Ilike heels I don’t own many sneakers. I’m not really a sneaker head. I liketennis shoes though, I like funny graphic over sized tee shirts and destroyed shortdenim. So to me that’s real chill. I’m move of an accessory person. Love bigfaced watches and earrings and nail art. This also depends on my mood. I likecolors but not walking around looking like a walking bag of skittles. And thenI like that edgy all black emo-goth punk rock look you know. On my off days Itry to dress up as much as poss. but don’t get me wrong I have my adidas trackpant and tank days :P I just really likeplaying dress up seeing what works for me and what doesn’t. I also likedressing other people.
Nulan: Mysense of fashion is simple I have always lovedcreating my own style. Different hats and accessories & shoes etc. I like to mix up lots of differentstyles into one and that is always changing as well. I will wear whateverI’m feeling or into at that moment and it could change the next moment.
Who or What is your biggest influences?
My mom is def my biggest influence not toomuch on that but other than her the children in my community that I getapproached by almost every day like yo I want to be like you and your sisterand I’m like well I’m pretty much nobody but you can be like me I guess just strivefor what you want and you will be lead down the right path. Che mack , loveher. Andy Milonakis , My friends and music.
Nulan: Biggest influences: music, fashion, the people that surround me,basically anything that can inspire me
What is your Ultimate Goal?
Naeema: My Ultimate goal hmm in life or with my line? Well mycareer hasn’t launched anywhere near what I want it to be but def heading inthat direction so in life is to just be able to share my art share my thoughtsand dreams with people and once I get to a moreestablished place i want to create internship opportunities for young people inthe communities i grew up in
Nulan: My ultimate Goal with the whole line is to get my lineout a lot of different places & to a lot of different people.
How do you feel about Philly, Fashion & Music Wise?
Naeema: First off let me pin out that I am from New Jersey. But Philly has some very talented people. Def a city with the most talented peopleI would say. With fashion, Philly sets a lot of trends for other cities. Fromthat urban feel down to the simplicity I feel like Philly def has an upper handin doing that. I just wish a lot of designers would take off the blinders andstop being so uptight with what they are selling. Like just do it because it feels right not because its’s hot you know? Like really feel what you’reselling. Music wise Philly is the shit with that. A lot of great artist I seeon the come up grinding doing their thing with the music. Music plays a big roll on fashion with Philly. So with what I said previous goes with the musicside as well.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
In 5 years I will be25 years old. I seemyself working, finishing up school, and living my life like its golden JillScott style. I will be a director and maybe one childby then…. not to big on relationships right now so yeah.
